General Dishner's Story:

General Dishner, born January 12, 1937 has been through quite a lot in is life. Just after being married, he was shipped off to Vietnam, then in the 1990's to Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He wasn't a soldier on the "front line", he was in fact an engineer.

General Dishner was in charge of making buildings to house machinery, and lodging for the soldiers at war. He was never on the front line, but his jobs were equally important. At one point in his career, he worked in a mosque. In the mosque, his job was to dress deceased soldiers, and occasionally write letters home to the soldier's families.

One day while at work, mortars rained down on General Dishner and his crew. Luckily, no one was hurt or injured. Although, General Dishner brought back a piece of metal shrapnel that he took out of the wall he was standing next to during the mortar attack. That piece of shrapnel could have taken his life.

General Dishner told us that his happiest moment during the service was getting off the plane and seeing all of his family members running at him with open arms. To us, General Dishner is a hero.
