"And then February of 1961 I joined the United States Air Force.

The reason I joined is because back in 1958 Eisenhower had put the Air Force into Vietnam to help the French. The French pulled out, and left the Air Force over there by itself."

He does not have any regrets from the war other than the fact that he could not spend as much time with his family.

Mr. Goode did not get chosen to serve overseas so he was close to his home in Massachusetts for the majority of his life. He was assigned to Otis Air Force Base to work in the 121 aircrafts. he defended the east coast in radar planes and had exciting times hurricane chasing. He worked at MIT for 25 years working on missiles, followed by a job in the auto industry for another decade.
