Alan Lacerda's Story:

Alan Lacerda, grew up in Dennis, Massachusetts. Alan’s early life in Dennis was often spent with his younger brother and at the ice rink. His grandmother managed Tony Kent Arena in Dennis, and when he was able to, he worked there. Lacerda did not know what he wanted to do exactly but he knew that college was not at the top of his list. Although Alan had many inspirations that helped him make his decision to go into the Marines and serve. Around age fifteen a group of Marines came to Dennis-Yarmouth High School and talked to the students about what they do. Alan’s parents were very supportive of whatever he wanted to do. His father, was in Vietnam and in the army, so he wanted to follow in his foot steps. Along with many other things in his life that inspired him to figure out what he wanted to do which sealed the deal.

When arriving, Lacerda didn't go to Iraq right away, they first went to another country in the middle east called Kuwait. While in Kuwait they just trained and prepared. About a month later, they arrived in Iraq. Alan was in the Marines Corps , and his title was an “Amphibious assault”. Today, Alan lives North of Boston. He is married, has a nine year old daughter and is attending college. Alan’s family and his friends bring him back to the Cape Cod every now and then.
