Howard Heath's Story
Howard Heath grew up in Needham, Massachusetts and enlisted in the war while he was a student at Northeastern University. He completed basic training in Keesler Field in Mississippi and served as a Private First Class. His group traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, and then to Clovis, New Mexico, where he signed up to train as a quartermaster and was immediately sent overseas to a reception depot in Stone, England. He served with several others, taking care of equipment and supplies, and painting the gunners jackets in his down time.
While in England, he met his wife Iris, got married and had a son named Bob before returning to the States and reuniting in New York. After returning, he went to art school at Vesper George School of Art in Boston, which is no longer in business.
