Brian McEnroe's Story:
In 1989, Brian McEnroe, who was just 18 at the time, decided to leave behind his family and girlfriend to join the Marine Corps after a friend who had enlisted, visited home, telling stories of how much he enjoyed his decision.

After signing up in 1989, Brian had to endure boot camp, intense cold weather training and Marine Combat Training, where he survived in the woods for four weeks as preparation for his service. Brian officially joined the Marine Corps in 1990. During his time in the Marine Core, Brian finished his education by going to night school and worked his way up to being promoted to Sergeant. Later, he became a Collateral Duty Inspector where he assisted in building and fixing planes, and was later promoted to a Quality Insurance Representative. Brian deeply enjoyed his service and says that the relationships, including close friends he contacts often, were some of the greatest he ever made.

Brian, who currently resides in Barnstable, Massachusetts, has a son who is going into the Marine Corps after graduation. Brian is very proud of this and greatly encourages anyone's decision to join the military, as he says it opens many opportunities and allows you to form many relationships that would not have been made otherwise.
