Jim Bauder's Story:

Jim grew up in Utica New York, with one older brother, and a twin brother.

Both of his brothers served in the Navy, along with his Uncle. Jim lived on a rural 240 acre farm and couldn't wait to go out and travel the world.

Jim attended a music school in Washington, DC. He joined the Service in '63 as a drum player in the Navy Band. He later spent 3 months in boot camp and then went on the ship the SS Canberra.

He spent 4 long years in the navy where he became a E5, which is equal to a corporal. The Naval ship he was on during the Vietnam War was anchored off the coast of Vietnam. It was there he saw U.S. fighter jets dive bomb the coast and the jungles.

After he got out of the Navy, he and his wife Paula, settled down in New York, and later moved to their current residence in Eastham.
