Through the story ‘A huge bag of worries’, pupils explored what it means to share their worries rather than keep them hidden. They learned that everyone, even confident, happy people, sometimes feel anxious, and that talking about it is the first step to feeling better.
In order to support the children and emphasise this, each class has been creating their own version of a “Safe Five”. This is five trusted adults they can go to when something is bothering them. For some, that includes teachers, learning assistants, or friends; for others, family members or family friends. The key message is clear: you never have to handle a worry alone.
As parents, you can support this at home by helping your child identify their own Safe Five and by normalising conversations about feelings. Ask open questions like, “What made you smile today?” or “Was there anything that made you feel unsure?” Small, regular conversations help children build the confidence to seek help when they need it most.
Our learner profile is more than a set of traits, it is a roadmap for developing emotionally intelligent, compassionate young people. It is the blueprint for the type of people we aspire for our pupils to become. Thank you for helping us nurture a community where every child feels seen, supported, and safe.
