the wyrm is one of the biggest creatures of the mythological world these creatures live underground in the desert and island deserts only found in in the realm of famine the wyrm is also know as "sand worm" it is a thousand feet long at adulthood and continues to grow until death, its has a thick but smooth carapace on its entire body and its mouth has a circle of sharp teeth ready to rip to shreds anything that finds itself falling into them.
Culture
the reason wyrms are known as "sand worms" is because they live in sand and are worm-like but the reason they choose to live here where there is little if any soil is because their diet is nothing like worms they are carnivores. how do they get past the blindness and lack of hearing in order to find prey? they have an acute sense of touch, and any movement on the sand thats at least a sheep in size will draw the attention of the wyrm even if its miles underneath
in combat the wyrm is a foe like no other, with its immensely thick carapace even if the blade cuts through it like butter theres no way the blade is long enough to so much as damage the wyrm itself and as for piercing weapons, while you may have a spear able to damage it once, the weapon will then be stuck inside the beast so all you have accomplished is losing a powerful weapon. blunt weapons can damage it but they have to be atleast +3 but such a thing will only succeed in scaring it away, the best way to truly damage a wyrm is to attack where it doesnt have a carapace: its insides. while purposely getting eaten to stab it from the inside could work the problem is the teeth and stomach acid. so mages can set up magic bombs for the wyrm to munch on or a dwarf bringing along some dwaven blasting charges can give it quite the spicy meal
the wyrm breed passively the female occasionally leaves behind eggs as it travels and any males that find the eggs fertilize them these eggs are very rare since they are found so deep underground but if someone where to find it somhow they'd surely be rich
