Dark Elves

The dark elves or 'night elves' are one of the tallest elven races but also the most evil. they are also the only race that varies madly between sexes, with their males having the intellect of trolls they are vicious servants of their female master. very rarely is a male dark elf highly intelligent but when they are they rise so quickly in rank that the dark elves very rarely have queens. the dark elven women are cruel, intelligent, and powerful. second in magical prowess only to the high elves. their skin is dark blue or purple in color and their eyes are always black and have no pupils nor iris

Culture

the dark elves dislike light so they make their homes in very dense forests near dark caves as they corrupt the land they live on and the creatures they pass. their hatred for others is made clear both in combat and visibly upon their prisoners and slaves. the prisoners they capture arent really used for any real purpose outside of satisfying their want to torture and the occasional sacrifice to their dark god.

the dark elves are mostly a matriarchal race with the females ruling everything except the the dark elves themselves with the generals, strategists, slave-masters, advisers, and all other positions that require thought held by women. the only position commonly held by males are that of the lowest class such as warriors, workers, breeders, etc. the only exception being the kingship which is commonly held by the few males that do hold intellect who quickly rise through the ranks with their excessive cruelty.

when the dark elves go to battle they favor underhanded tactics such as using the most potent of poisons, aiming for the eyes and genitals, using dark magics to sicken, weaken, or demoralize the enemy, and learning personal weaknesses of the generals and strategists they face to make them less effective. with their willingness to do anything to win and their willingness to throw away the lives of their underlings the dark elves are a difficult opponent to say the least.

History

in years long past after the elves and dwarves first made contact and the civil war that lead to the dark elves separating from the common and high elves had occurred, the first dark elf king [Dark Elvan king] had learned of a disability all dwarves suffered from that kept them from telling a dark elf from a high elf, emboldened with this knowledge the dark elves dressed themselves in high elf armor and started to raid the dwarven caravans. this trickery eventually lead to the "war of vengeance" due to the arrogance of the new high elvan king. with his plan a success [Dark Elvan king] was not only the first dark elven king but also out-lived 2 high elven kings, due to him being the reason the previous one had died as well.

the reason men so easily take the kingship is because these men are the 'favored of lolth' lolth had imbued into them all the cruelty and intellect they could possibly need to rise in the ranks so that once king they could be the closest to lolth. there had once been a coo by female dark elves tired of always being ruled by men so instead of working against each other they teamed up to bring down the king. this was unprecedented in dark elven society where those who rose to power had always worked purely for themselves this act of camaraderie angered lolth so much that every member was promptly converted into driders. the darkelven society had fallen into chaos for years after this due to their power structure breaking down. but once it finally stabilized dark elves knew full well never to cooperate in such a way ever again
