High Elves

High Elves are the tallest, most powerful, most beautiful, and most intelligent of the elves. they have the longest lives and the greatest wealth. however they suffer from vanity, most seeing themselves as the highest race on the planet. that said when war comes they do not shy away holding their lines with the most powerful magical armor and weapons that exists. with their speed, powerful magic, intellect, precision, moral, and equipment it is unsurprising that few challenges the high elves and even fewer rise from a confrontation victorious.

Culture

The high elves are the royalty of the elven races, the elven council, king, and all others related to politics of the elves are high elven with the more minor tasks of farming, hunting, trading, etc. being left to the common elves. High elves are mostly involved in elven politics but those that are unable to get such positions are instead enchanters, priests, warriors, or work in a field that helps the above classes. despite their power they lack in numbers, among the elven races they have the smallest population.

High elves hold a disdain for non-good alignments seeing neutrality as a trait of a lesser elf and evil as something only a human would take part in. Seeing themselves as a higher race they also put themselves to a higher standard and commonly shame other high elves should they engage in "lesser" actions or thoughts and look down on races that dont meet their standards (so all other races).

All elves consider their long hair to be conduits of their honor and commonly tie them into pony-tails or similar variants. the longer the hair of the elf the more respect he garners from the other elves and since high elves have the longest lives (they dont die from age) they commonly are the ones with the greatest honor. when elves are buried they place the hair in a way that those that look upon the corpse are able to see the full length of the elves hair, giving him his last chance to show his honor.

due to high elves not dieing of old age they take the longest to mature. an high elf is considered an infant for a staggering 30 years and is a child for another 50 highelves will not consider you an adult until you are 300 at minimum and wont see you as anything but a neophyte until 450 it is between these ages they will most likely be willing to become adventurers since they wouldnt be able to gain any kind of respect among their peers otherwise.

History

The high elves once had a king named [Elf Name] the Second, this king even by high elven standards was arrogant beyond belief and so could not be shamed into stopping by the other high elves when the dark elves started raiding dwarf caravans dressed as high elves and he did not bother investigating the incident instead opting to convince himself that it wasnt the high elves and refusing to compensate the dwarves. After years of the dwarves trying to hold the high elves responsible and the high elves blowing them off the dwarf king sent one last diplomat to try and avoid a war but as he beseeched the high elven king he had grown angered at having to deal with the dwarves, constantly thinking of how ugly they are and how little he cares of what they want him to do. Thinking this he decides to make the dwarf easier to look at ordering the guards to hold down the diplomat as he shaved him. This lead to what the elves would refer to as "the war of the beard" that would eventually lead to the high elven defeat and their kings decapitation.
