A close relative to dinosaurs the behemoth is a perfection of a herbivore. standing at the top of the food chain even when dragons are around is no simple feat but the behemoth pulls it off
Culture
the enormous beast known as the behemoth is a passive but territorial creature. anyone trespassing on its land will find the worlds largest armadillo trying to be threatening. when that inevitably fails it will instead just try to push you out then use its massive body to not let you back in.
its natural armor plating makes it immune to projectiles no matter how magical, slashing damage that isnt at least +3, bludgeoning that isnt at least +2, piercing that isnt small enough to try and hit its tiny eyes or +2, and is near immune to all magical damage
the behemoths eyes are tiny but powerful, allowing it to see with 20/20 vision despite being half the size of a humans. these tiny eyes are nestled inside carefully grown plates that wont allow any slashing or bludgeoning past, and only the smallest of daggers though. but while its eyes dont have plates on them its eyelids do so all it need do is close its eyes to defend against such a dagger
its armor while powerful is not very useful practically. once taken off a behemoth it cannot heal so most anything that would damage the plates cause it to outright shatter, such as most smithing activities.
so unless your a giant the most you will get out of a behemoth is a new tower shield from a single behemoth plate you gave to a highly skilled craftsman.
because of its plates overlapping one another to prevent places you can push a dagger into it has difficulty turning with any real speed. so anyone in combat that chases the behemoths tail will find that the tail is the only weapon the creature can use against you
when it comes to the elements lightning and cold will have little effect on it, but fire will eventually cause it to overheat forcing it to retreat to water somewhere or collapse
History
it is said that titan worshipers where so hated by zeus that he lobed lighting at them in an attempt to destroy them but they hid behind the behemoth who protected them as they healed it. eventually zeus gave up and the titan worshipers have revered behemoths ever since and will react violently to anyone who has so much as injured one.
