Also occasionally known as Sasquatch, the bugbear are Large creatures covered in a thin layer of fur with colors ranging from tan to brown and all their variations in addition to their longer haired areas around the head which it almost always a brown variation, they are only hostile to intelligent creatures that see them due to becoming concerned for its family. they can be considered territorial but if you can get one calmed down enough to speak with they usually understand some common.
Culture
Bugbears arent violent by nature but by necessity, many bugbears that have been spotted are hunted down and when that time comes their families are in danger. so once spotted the bugbear will attempt to kill the spotter before they alert others. they understand some common so if somone can convince them that they mean no harm or that they are in no danger then the bugbear will leave them alone. should that not happen and the spotter simply escapes the bugbear will retreat to its home and try to move as soon as possible.
Due to their strong want to protect their family a bugbear will never slow down while fighting, regardless of how much damage it takes. those who comment on the bugbear either state their incredible gentleness or their tremendous ferocity.
Since bugbears are so family oriented they would be willing to do pretty much anything for their family so in some occasions, such as times of extreme danger or famine, they will approach elves or dwarves and offer their services for food or protection for their family. bugbears do not approach humans unless the humans have actively tried to earn their trust.
History
It is unknown where bugbears first came from, most dont have time to worship and those that do worship local gods as opposed to a bugbear god. leaving many confused as to how they came to be
