how drider come to be is simple, a darkelf in one way or another greatly angered their god lolth, lolth then cursed them to live as spiders by merging them with one. the drider no longer worship lolth(for obvious reasons) and normally take to worshiping a god that hates lolth out of spite. but due to lolths power over spiders they normally have little way of resisting her will

driders have a hard time remaining in control of themselves, lolth had made the merged spider brain dominant over the darkelf portion so it takes alot of willpower to resist the spiders will. while male driders are far more rare then females the male drider perfectly merged with the spider due to the two of them having similar thought patterns (capture, kill, breed). but due to female dark elves power over males male driders normally have little way of resisting a female driders, or female dark elves, will

female driders normally dont mate due to the only children they can produce being spiders. dispite being a cursed race a drider is normally considered more fearsome then a darkelf. being every bit as capable as a darkelf in fighting and magic but also has webs to capture their foe without need of a fight and can use their venom if an opportunity arises
