normally looking like a bunch of algae gathered on the top of lakes or ponds in swamps if they feel threatened the algae can gather into a humanoid form. they look extremely muscular, have claws for feet and hands, and have no need for a mouth so they have been described as large muscular Illithids with claws.

Culture

these large algae-men are a close relative to both greenskins and stone giants. similar to stone giants they have little interest in conflict, only attacking when they feel they need to defend themselves or their home.

in combat an algoid is extremely resistant to slashing and piercing damage requireing a +2 or greater weapon to damage but blunt damage works even when its not magical. despite being a plant it is highly resistant to fire due to being wet all the time. It is instead weak to lightning.

due to algoids being made up of large amounts of algae as long as theres more algae available it can rapidly replace the algae that dies. individuals that dont know that may think that it has troll regeneration
