The common elves, or just elves, are the average of the elven race, they have more magical power, better looks, larger size, and more skill with a bow then a human but fall short compared to the other elves. they are, however, larger in number then most elves but also have the shortest lifespan.
Culture
The common elves and high elves have been attached at the hip since elves first became elves, some even say the original high elf was born from a common elf. they are loyal to the high elves and work in all the positions that high elves dont work and joining them in some they do.
common elves very rarely join their high elf brethren in politics, the few that do take part as mayor's or similarly small positions that keep them nearby other common elves. like other elves common elves cannot grow facial hair and hold value in their hairlength, due to the beauty of their race it isnt uncommon to confuse their males for women due to being common elves this happens less often then with the high elves.
being the average of the elves the common elf is still highly superior to humans, who are considered the average of races in general, and even hold some traits better then fellow elves such as having better hiding skills and higher birth rates then high elves, lack the dislike of the light and the mortality rate of the dark elves, arent as territorial nor as breed-happy as the wood elves, etc.
History
far far into the elven past the elves had a three-way civil war during that war the common elves where the only elven sub-race to take the side of the high elves, the war had started when many elves had grown tired of serving under the high elves who they saw, most of the time, as having nothing in common with them. the three factions were the high elves and common elves vrs the dark elves vrs the wood elves and other lesser known elves (like the aquatic elves). no one really knows if anyone had won or lost the civil war, since you could say the high elves won since they kept their position as leaders...but you could also say they lost since they were no longer in charge of many of the elven races. this situation was the same for all three sides of the war.
