the skaven are a disgusting race that prides itself on how many diseases it carries. these creatures are humanoid rats, outside of having two arms and two legs theres nothing else human about them.
Culture
the skaven were once normal rats until the touch of antharg twisted them into the creatures they are today. they worship antharg as their god and leader the only one that comes anywhere close to their reverence of antharg is their respect for their king. the king of is referred to as "high priest of antharg" and infected with a unique disease causing hors to spout from his head. the skaven king can have anywhere between 2-12 horns.
how skaven rise through their ranks is by proving themselves better then other skaven. when born a skaven is tossed into a pit with other baby skaven food is also thrown into this pit commonly. any babies that die of starvation or disease are feasted on by their brethren. once they have reached adulthood at about 1 year they are referred to as "skaven slaves" their task is to scout the realm of plague making sure that there is never somthing going on that antharg is not aware of. should a slave prove to be better then his peers in intellect, strength, cunning, viciousness, speed, or have especially potent diseases they will be able to gain a real rank in skaven society. outside of that the skaven breed like regular rats
skaven that have higher intellect become scientists and inventors experimenting on slaves to make abominations to fight for them (see mutations under concepts), those with greater strength are the warriors and guards, cunning for the strategists or merchants, vicious skaven are the berserkers or suicide bombers, speed are the assassins or messengers, and finally those with the most potent of diseases are the priests. there are plenty of roles for the nobility of the skaven as well. those with 2 or more talents are considered nobility, an example of a noble job is a skaven gifted with both intellect and cunning given the role of 'mage'. the few skaven born with all 6 talents are the princes and princess's of the skaven who will eventually replace the king and queen
skaven slaves in combat are equally as strong as a goblin, the only thing that makes a skaven more powerful are the annoying tactics the skaven have. their weapons are always coated with disease since they use them to itch themselves, cut their own hair, or to wipe the blood off their weapon and onto their fur. in addition the skaven morale breaks easily due to skaven having a rats built-in fight or flight response that almost always defaults to flight after the skaven has struck you once or twice and it sees your not dead once the skavens is away from you its mind will stabilize and realize that it still wants to kill you and will promptly return. this annoying accidental hit-and-run tactic make the constant reapplication of disease a real problem for unprepared adventurers
