the eldritch horror is a frightful creature with its upper-body being crab-like with a thick exoskeleton, having many eyes, and 2 raptorial forelegs with chela on the end. its lower body however consists entirely of long and short tentacles, too many to count.
Culture
the eldritch horror attacks consist of lunging its raptorial forelegs at you then clamping its chela and striking you with any tentacles it doesnt need to stand. the amount and length of tentacles is dependent on age
it gets older by floating in the water it calls home and wrapping itself with its tentacles then molts by pulling off the old exoskeleton with its tentacles. if the eldritch horror tires itself out too much by this action it dies if it doesnt it grows bigger.
eldritch horrors are terrifying to behold, so much so that many creatures must roll vrs fear or freeze in terror. ironically eldritch horrors themselves arent very brave and should one take too much damage in battle it wont hesitate to run
these creatures breed much like crabs, individuals that have spotted this occurrence have dubbed it the "nightmare hug" as they rub their 'stomachs' together(the area where the exoskeleton and tentacles meet). when one encounters an adult eldritch horror it will usually be accompanied by its mate
its tentacles do not bleed when cut and it does not rear back in pain. because of which cutting or removing its tentacles does not reduce its health. tentacles damaged or lost will recover in mere hours
History
eldritch horrors that grow too big are unable to mate with the much smaller opposite sex and become solitary if they cant find one of similar size. these eldar eldritch horrors are said to be far more passive and open to friendly interaction with intelligent species in a desperate move to seek companionship
it is said that at the deepest part of the ocean lies a eldritch horror so large that it feasts on leviathans, krakens, and even the occasional roc for sustenance. this 'eldritch god' is worshiped by some seafaring tribesmen as Janai'ngo the forgotten lord of the sea
