Second only to the lich, vampires are among the most powerful undead with age only increasing their power as time goes on. discovering a vampire is hard enough surviving to alert others is near impossible.
Culture
vampires are humans 'natural' predators capable of living amongst them with humans being none the wiser. should a human die from a vampire draining them of life they too shall soon rise a vampire themselves
becoming a vampire grants increased strength, intellect, and charisma to such a point that humans that have been turned commonly become far smarter and the process is capable of making a quasi-moto into a girl swooning model overnight. the strength however is because despite their looks they are still undead so are capable of surpassing human limits.
along with increase specs they also come equipped with natural abilities. the obvious is their bite capable of quickly draining your blood, but even vampires have limits and can drain no more then 2 people fully before being unable to drink anymore. besides their bite should they look deeply into their victims eyes they cast an extremely powerful charm spell that persists until the vampires death or a priest removes the curse. along with those they can also transform, while their range of transformations is limited it should be noted. they are capable of turning into bats and into mist. the mist is most notable due to it only being used should a vampire be improperly killed the vampire will turn into mist and return to its coffin in order to heal.
the process fo turning into a vampire is thus:
a target is bitten then instead of sucked of their blood they are instead injected with vampiric blood, this is known as a 'blood kiss'
target then dies and immediately rises as a pseudo-ghoul
during this state they do not react to external stimuli outside of their biters orders this lasts for between 1 and 7 days
as this process ends they awaken as a dhampir their vampiric personality starts to develop free from memories of life instead obsessing over a feeling of lost status as if they were a ruined noble trying to maintain access to high society via serving another noble
after a year or two memories of their life will start to return slowly and gradually as if trying to prevent the past from damaging the new vampire frame of thought
after about a decade all semblance of life will fade and they will become a true vampire, at this point the process is no longer reversible.
it should be noted that any vampires that are made serve their creator. creating a 'vampire family' the vampire lord is sentient but the serving vampires are not. until the lord dies or the servants are fed the blood of their master
vampires also take advantage of their immortality allowing them plenty of time to learn powerful magics to use against their foes. newfound intellect and charisma also allows vampires to quickly amass wealth and fortune so sometimes they dont need to fight you and can simply throw money at others until your dead
vampires do however have weaknesses. raw garlic messes with a vampires strong sense of smell and makes great repellent. in addition a person that makes it a habit of eating raw garlic will find themselves immune to vampire bites since the taste of garlic will prevent them from draining you for any real period of time. stabbing a vampire through the heart and keeping the object there will put the vampire into a kind of stasis where he cant do anything. allowing preparation to properly kill him, a wooden stake is not required any object long enough to pierce a heart fully will work. a cross that has a powerful enough blessing can chase a vampire away and most famously they will burn in the sunlight
vampires even have slight differences among their sexes. a female vampire is generally considered more violent and powerful then the male counterpart due to having 2 vampiric canines and 2 regular ones as opposed to the males vampiric canines alone allowing them to drink more blood at a faster rate so are generally more blood-thirsty
History
Nosferatu is known as the oldest vampire many whisper that he may be the first.
Dracula is known as the most powerful vampire to date his cunning is unmatched and is credited as the originator of the myth that "vampires lack shadows and cannot be seen in mirrors" thus 'proving' he was not a vampire by standing in front of a mirror and pointing to his shadow
