The genie are the 'humans' of the elemental planes they look like humans in general but have varying looks depending on the plane their from (pic 1 is the first 3 genies pic 2 is the fourth)
Culture
the genie are a powerful race but they are rejected by the prime material plane(our plane) because of which if a genie ever wants to come here they must use a roundabout way to do it. most genies create a 'magical lamp'(it looks more like a teapot) for them to reside in. these lamps must function alot like golem confines for them to be able to enter them and in doing so they cannot willingly leave a lamp until granting 3 wishes to somone who finds their confine. because of this they are at the mercy of whoever discovers the lamp
while in the prime material plane in this way genies are like gods, able to use power beyond what any mortal can do, which is why they are able to grant wishes. but at the same time they can only use this power at somone elses command which is why they grant wishes. but also because of this an especially powerful magician that gets ahold of their lamp can adjust the magic inscriptions on the lamp to force the genie to serve them until the wishes are granted. any wish made but the last one that prevents the genie from completing his duty can be refused by the genie such as your first wish being suicide.
the genie are powerful to a certain extent even in their home plane. able to use summon food, liquid, and solids of all kinds with ease. because of which they hold no value on objects and do not trade. but if one were to successfully rob a genie without him noticing you would be rich immediately.
genies are a race that dont mind being enslaved as long as certain rules are applied to the relationship. a genie willingly or forcefully enslaved will not have the power of a genie of a lamp but will still be able to manifest in the prime material plane should their master call for them and will have all the power they have at home except their ability to create items will be reduced to nothing more then wood and soft goods and the amount is limited.
genies dont have legs but if they ever decide they want them they can have them appear at will instead they have a tail-like appendage that is made up of a similar material to the plane they come from so they can always fly. genie skin colors also vary as much as pigman skin color
genie have an obsession with personal looks and fashion so every genie will always wear clothes most befitting of them and keep themselves properly groomed. any race that breeds with a genie will find that only their race is born, never a genie.
the genie do not worship gods instead they do somthing similar to nature worship but the nature they worship is the plane they are from. their worship allows the plane to grow larger to accommodate for the creatures that live inside it
a genie that is killed will return to their home plane unless they are a lamp genie or already there. lamp genies will return to their lamp and genies killed in the elemental plane will be gone forever. should a genies lamp be destroyed it will reform after a hour or 2 with the genie inside. should a empty genies lamp be destroyed nothing of note will happen. should a container of a servile genie be destroyed the genie will be forced back to its elemental plane
Djinn
the djinn are the genies of the elemental plane of air so are immune to lightning. they are a friendly bunch that open their arms to any visitors welcoming them with grand celebrations. should one engage a djinn in combat they are able to create whirlwinds similar to lesser elementals that attack along side them, call lighting from their hands, use great illusions that last until touched or dispelled via magic, can turn invisible or into a gaseous form at will, and is a capable magician and warrior.
djinn are hopeless romantics that are too absorbed with loving one another platonically that they very rarely have children, if ever. the djinn are a good race and anyone that wishes to make a djinn a willing servant must not be evil and promise to only use them if the ultimate goal is good. the test the djinn will put their to-be master through will be a test of faithfulness, friendship, or love
a djinn of a lamp will always try to fulfill its masters wishes how they want only deviating when their wishes are explicitly evil in which they will take advantage of their wording and use it against them
Dao
the dao are the genie of the elemental plane of earth. they are warriors by trade and the various khans war with one another for sport. they only accept outsiders that prove themselves in combat. should they be engaged in combat they are able to use misdirection, immune to bludgeoning, can lift weight beyond what it looks like they can, pass though walls, telekenesis, summon walls, turn rock to mud, can turn invisible or into a gaseous form at will, cast dig spells, and they are highly skilled warriors and sub-par magicians.
dao value warriors above all else and only those that prove themselves in combat over thousands of years are given the right to have a child and only if its with the a member of an opposing gender that has also risen to the top of warriors over thousands of years. as warriors anyone who seeks their loyalty must best them in open combat and promise that they are used for combat regularly and frequently.
dao of a lamp will act in accordance to its strict warrior code. it will grant honorable wishes as they are intended but dishonorable wishes such as revenge, suffering, or unearned power will be granted in ways they where not intended.
Marid
the marid are the genie of the elemental plane of water so are immune to cold and do not drown they are also the laziest of the genie preferring to play and have fun all day. marid are unwilling and uninterested in doing anything else. they ignore any outsider that do not attack them. if forced into combat they can control water and make it into a powerful jet to attack, convert water to ice, polymorph self, can turn invisible or into a liquid form at will, and are highly skilled magicians and sub-par warriors.
the marid find romance to be troublesome and grating and rarely, if ever, engage in it. should one want a marid as a servant for some reason it will refuse...unless you promise that it will only be used for fun things such as dancing, singing, or engaging in parties. they test their to-be masters trustworthiness.
a marid of a lamp is by far the most rare but should you find one you will wish you didnt. a marid will be bored listening to your wish and only half-hear it meaning they will only half-grant it. any wish granted by one will be half-hazard and lazy in its execution.
Efreeti
the efreeti are from the elemental plane of fire and as such they are immune to fire. efreeti are the most evil genie, they find pleasure in watching races suffer and die. should you come across one it will attack by breathing fire, controlling fire at will, using great illusions that last until touched or dispelled via magic, can turn invisible or into a gaseous form at will, can create a wall of fire, and are capable magicians and warriors.
the efreeti despise company and even amongst their own kind cant tolerate one another long enough to engage in somthing like breeding. of all the genie efreeti hate servitude the most. and unless you can immediately make a large show of power and promise that they will be used for evil and the suffering of others they will attack
efreeti are the most common lamp genies. they love hearing the wishes of others and twisting their words to make their own wishes into hells of their own construction. efreeti are the reason for the saying "be careful what you wish for...it might come true"
Rakshasa
a rakshasa(pictured right) is a living creature in the prime material plane with the soul of a genie. when a genie is so desperate to enter the prime material plane and unwilling to become a wish slave they may do the ultimate genie taboo: create a blob of living matter in the prime material plane then possess it. possessing this blob causes it to transform into a being to match the soul it has been given but with the perverting of the genie from this twisted method the rakshasa is born. all genies no matter what type they are become rakshasa if they engage in this taboo.
rakshasa on average look like humanoid felines with backwards hands such as lions, tigers, or pumas but crocodiles, alligators, bears, and gorillas have been spotted before as well.
a rakshasa spends its time indulging itself in various pleasures and scheming evil. they find the flesh of intelligent races delectable and will do whatever they can to feast on it.
a rakshasa can use illusions to disguise itself as somone their enemy trusts but cannot keep an illusion up and attack at the same time. they attack with their claws and biting in melee and use powerful magic at range. to hurt a rakshasa you must use a +1 or greater weapon and and magical weapon below +3 does half damage. however holy weapons deal double damage
