the nightmare is the most misunderstood of all horse-like things. it is just a horse from the elemental plane of fire. its not evil its not cruel its just a horse thats always on fire and evil people happen to like

when not used as a mount the nightmare is found in the elemental plane of fire munching on the fire around it. it is a curious creature and should somthing it not recognize approach it it will begin to munch on you. just like all creatures from the elemental plane of fire it can walk on its element

its a carnivore due to vegetation not being able to reach its stomach before burning to ash. if engaged in combat the nightmare is able to breath fire and smoke on its enemies. the smoke is especially dangerous due to it making its way into your eyes and throat forcibly incapacitating you for as long as the smoke remains
