By winning on Polish at Goodwood on Tuesday July 25 1911, Willie lost his claim to the five pounds jockey allowance for apprentices who had not ridden 40 winners. At that point, he had won 27 of the 217 races in which he had ridden. Last season, he won 13 times in 103, giving a total of 40. Willie finished up riding a total of 62 winners in 1911.
