Dickson, Thomas

On 2 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of Isaiah Millard for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 108 and 19 in the Township of No. 2. Note of A. McNabb on the revers: “There is a Deed Completed in the name of Isaiah Millard for 200 acres in Stamford dated 16 May 1798 Impounded in the Council by Mr. Chief Justice Allcock.” Note in the margin dated 13 Mar 1813: “No Deed for Isaiah Millard.” Added note of the Surveyor General’s Office dated 13 Mar 1813: “In 1796 Lots 108 & 109 in Stamford—Des: 4706 to Isaiah Millard & since allowed under the Comn. to the Revd. Robt. Addison & Thos. Dickson Esqr. Isaiah Millard the original nominee—whether the Deed under the above Description to the O. N. is or is not completed.” Added note of Thomas Ridout, Surveyor General dated 15 Mar 1813: “The original Deed to Isaiah Millard is impounded in the Council Office it appearing that it has been completed after his decease.” (Stamford Township Papers 0490, 0492, 0493)

Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Isaiah Millard for two hundred acres of land in Lots 108 and 109 Stamford Twp. (Stamford Township Papers 0490)

On 15 Mar 1813 Surveyor General Thomas Ridout prepared a surveyor’s assignment for the Reverend Robert Addison of the Township of Niagara & Thomas Dickson of Queenston and their heirs upon the trust of the last will of Isaiah Millard deceased, for two hundred acres of land in Lots 108 and 109 Stamford Twp. as per 5th Claim Niagara Commission in September 1803. Dickson, William

On 6 Oct 1796 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared a surveyor’s assignment for William Dickson for one hundred acres of land in Lot 171 Stamford Twp. (Stamford Township Papers 0698)


Duchamber, Conrad

Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Conrad Duchamber for one hundred acres of land in Lot 3 Stamford Twp. Note on the document: John Chisholm’s name was on the plan, but his certificate of relinquishment is attached to the assignment. (Stamford Township Papers 0068)

On 11 Jan 1796 John Chisholm certified that he had no claim or right whatever to Lot No. 3 in the 2nd Township, for which Conrade Duchamber has a certificate. Signed by John Chisholm (Stamford Township Papers 0070, 0074)

On 12 Mar 1792 the Land Board read the petition of Conrad Duchamber for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him one hundred acres in Lot 3 in the Township of No. 2 (Stamford Township Papers 0072)


Dugan, James

On 3 May 1791 the Land Board read the petition of James Dugan for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him one hundred acres in Lot 214 in the Township of No. 2 (Stamford Township Papers 0830)


Durham, Isaac

On 6 Dec 1800 The Executive Council of Upper Canada gave a grant to Isaac Durham of Grimsby Twp., farmer for Lot 113 Stamford Twp. as per 11th Claim Niagara Commission Aug 1803 under 4th Claim Niagara Commission 1803. (Stamford Township Papers 0510)


Ellsworth, Francis

On 8 Oct 1796, Robert Hamilton, acting for the Settlement in the loan of provisions, certified that David Bayley was a settler in this County in 1788 and then borrowed provisions from the King’s Store to the amount of £8.15.0 and that Francis Ellsworth became possessed of his lands, stood in his place and has paid the provision at above borrowed by Bayley. On 19 Dec 1796 Timothy Skinner certified that he had no claim to half the broken front east of No. 160 containing 15 acres on Niagara River in Stamford which with 35 acres of No. 160 is the property of Francis Elsworth. On 27 Feb 1799 Francis Elsworth wrote to Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith stating he will show his claim to Lot No. 177 in Stamford and requested the grant. Signed Francis Elsworth. (Stamford Township Papers 0725)


Forsyth, James Jr.

On 3 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of James Forsyth Junior for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 98 and 105 in the Township of No. 2. Noted on the reverse: The Land Board consent that the within lots shall be transferred to John Willson and Joshuah Miller one half to each to be divided across as they have agreed. Newark Oct 5/94. On 19 Mar 1797 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared a surveyor’s assignment for James Forsyth Junior for one hundred acres of land in the east half of Lots 98 and 105 Stamford Twp. The west end of Lots No. 98 and 105 transferred to Joshuah Miller (Stamford Township Papers 0454)

On 14 Feb 1818, J. Beikey, Inspector General wrote to the Surveyor General’s Office advising the east half of 98 and 105 in the Township of Stamford allowed to Thomas Willson, John Willson and John Fanning in trust—James Forsyth Junior (son of James Forsyth of the Niagara District a U. E. Loyalist) the original nominee privileged as S. U. E. (Stamford Township Papers 0443)

On 9 Mar 1818 Surveyor General Thomas Ridout prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Thomas Willson of Stamford Twp., yeoman, John Wilson of Niagara Twp., yeoman and John Fanning of Willoughby Twp., merchant, Executors named in the will of the late Irish John Wilson of Stamford Twp., deceased for one hundred acres of land in the east halves of Lots 98 and 105 Stamford Twp. as per the 6th Claim Commission Report in March 1812. James Forsyth Junr. (son of James Forsyth of the Niagara District a U. E. Loyalist) the original nominee privileged as S. U. E. by the Inspector General. (Stamford Township Papers 0440)


Frelick, John

On 3 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of John Frelick for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lot 124 in the Township of No. 2 (Stamford Township Papers 0550)

On 26 Apr 1794, Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith wrote to the Attorney General stating John Frelick is the assignee of Lot No. 115 Stamford and not Robert Spencer. (Stamford Township Papers 0553)
