Jones, Andrew

On 12 May 1797 Andrew Jones certified before Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith that he is the eldest son of James Jones deceased late of Butlers Rangers and that he has no claim of Lot 12 Concession 3 of Grantham Twp. or his amount, he having his compliment of military and family lands. On 11 Jul 1803 The Executive Council of Upper Canada of Upper Canada gave a grant to ­­­­­Andrew Jones of the Township of Beverly for two hundred acres in Lots 11 and 12 Concession 1 and broken front in the Township of Grantham under 57 Claim Niagara Commission 1803. On 20 Jul 1803 Acting Surveyors General Chewett and Ridout prepared a surveyor’s assignment for Andrew Jones of the Township of Beverly, farmer for 230 acres of land in Lots 11 and 12 Concession 1 and broken front in the Township of Grantham under 57 Claim Niagara Commission 1803, James Jones, original nominee. On 11 Apr 1803 Acting Surveyors General Chewett and Ridout prepared a surveyor’s assignment for Andrew Jones of the Township of Beverly, yeoman son of James Jones deceased (late of Butlers Rangers) UE for 100 acres of land in Lot 12 Concession 3 in the Township of Grantham under an Order in Council of 10 May 1797. Jones, Augustus

Return of Transfers on described Lands 5th December 1795 prepared by Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith. Grantee: James Wilson Lots 25 and 26 Concession 1 in Township No. 7 or Saltfleet; Transferee: Augustus Jones. Remarks: one half of Lot No. 26 belongs to the Estate of the late Peter Hare. Kemp, David

On 11 Jun 1803 William Dickson wrote a memorandum to Messrs. Chewett and Ridout, Acting Surveyors General stating searches are wanted for the following persons locations: Peter Secord Junr. Lots 135 and 136 in the Township of Niagara; Donald McDonald Lot 253 in the Town of Niagara; John Rock Lot 179 in the Town of Niagara; William Osterholt Lot 3 in 7 and 8th Concession Grantham. This was by authority of The Land Board—transferred to John Clement and the certificate assignment and transfer lodged with Mr. White late Attorney General, yet cannot be now found. Lawe, George

On 2 Apr 1816 the Lieut. Governor’s Office requested Surveyor General Thomas Ridout, Esq. transmit descriptions of the Glebe lots number three in the fifth and sixth concessions of the Townhip of Grantham for licences of occupation, the first mentioned to Mr. George Lawe of the Township of Niagara and the other to John Powell, Esquire of the Town of Niagara.
