Jones, Andrew
On 12 May 1797 Andrew Jones certified before Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith that he is the eldest son of James Jones deceased late of Butlers Rangers and that he has no claim of Lot 12 Concession 3 of Grantham Twp. or his amount, he having his compliment of military and family lands. On 11 Jun 1803 William Dickson wrote a memorandum to Messrs. Chewett and Ridout, Acting Surveyors General stating searches are wanted for the following persons locations: Peter Secord Junr. Lots 135 and 136 in the Township of Niagara; Donald McDonald Lot 253 in the Town of Niagara; John Rock Lot 179 in the Town of Niagara; William Osterholt Lot 3 in 7 and 8th Concession Grantham. This was by authority of The Land Board—transferred to John Clement and the certificate assignment and transfer lodged with Mr. White late Attorney General, yet cannot be now found. Governor’s Office requested Surveyor General Thomas Ridout, Esq. transmit descriptions of the Glebe lots number three in the fifth and sixth concessions of the Townhip of Grantham for licences of occupation, the first mentioned to Mr. George Lawe of the Township of Niagara and the other to John Powell, Esquire of the Town of Niagara.
