On 1 Jan 1803 Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones certified that Christian Warner should have been entered on the plan of the Gore between Stamford and Newark for Lot No. 6 but was omitted as he did not attend at the time of his making of the survey of the said Gore in the year 1799. Weever, Peter

On 3 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of Peter Weever for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him one hundred acres in Lot 83 in the Township of No. 2 (Stamford Township Papers 0394)

On 29 Sep 1796 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared a surveyor’s assignment for Peter Weever for one hundred acres of land in Lot 83 Stamford Twp. (Stamford Township Papers 0392)

On 31 Jul 1802 The Executive Council of Upper Canada gave a grant to Peter Weever of the County of Haldimand, yeoman for one hundred acres in Lot 83 Stamford Twp. (Stamford Township Papers 0397)


Williams, Benajah

On 4 Nov 1803 The Executive Council of Upper Canada gave a grant to Benajah Williams of Stamford Twp., yeoman for Lot 102 Stamford Twp. as per 6th Claim Niagara Commission Aug 1803. (Stamford Township Papers 0302)


Willson, Irish John

On 3 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of James Forsyth Junior for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive one hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 98 and 105 in the Township of No. 2. Noted on the reverse: The Land Board consent that the within lots shall be transferred to John Willson and Joshuah Miller one half to each to be divided across as they have agreed. Newark Oct 5/94. On 5 Oct 179_ the Land Board read the petition of John Wilson for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive one hundred acres of land. (Stamford Township Papers 0474)

On 12 Apr 1792 the Land Board read the petition of John Wilson for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive one hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him one hundred acres in Lot 107 in the Township of No. 2 (Stamford Township Papers 0477)

Extract from the minutes of The Executive Council of Upper Canada dated 8 Jul 1794. read the petition of Irish John Wilson setting forth his service. That he received two hundred and fifty acres and prays for a further location having a wife and eleven children. Ordered that the petitioner be referred to the Land Board. Note on the reverse: John Willson having brought a wife and eleven children to the settlement in 1788—the Board…being 600 acres for his family. (Stamford Township Papers 0480, 0481)

On 19 May 1795 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared a surveyor’s assignment for Irish John Wilson for two hundred acres of land in Lots 205, 206, 216, 217 Thorold Township and Lots 209 and 218, containing 600 acres (Stamford Township Papers 0482)

On 13 Mar 1797 The Executive Council of Upper Canada gave a grant to Irish John Willson to be made up twelve hundred acres. (Stamford Township Papers 0484)

On 14 Feb 1818, J. Beikey, Inspector General wrote to the Surveyor General’s Office advising the east half of 98 and 105 in the Township of Stamford allowed to Thomas Willson, John Willson and John Fanning in trust—James Forsyth Junior (son of James Forsyth of the Niagara District a U. E. Loyalist) the original nominee privileged as S. U. E. (Stamford Township Papers 0443)

On 9 Mar 1818 Surveyor General Thomas Ridout prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Thomas Willson of Stamford Twp., yeoman, John Wilson of Niagara Twp., yeoman and John Fanning of Willoughby Twp., merchant, Executors named in the will of the late Irish John Wilson of Stamford Twp., deceased for one hundred acres of land in the east halves of Lots 98 and 105 Stamford Twp. as per the 6th Claim Commission Report in March 1812. James Forsyth Junr. (son of James Forsyth of the Niagara District a U. E. Loyalist) the original nominee privileged as S. U. E. by the Inspector General. (Stamford Township Papers 0440)


Willson, John

Extract from the minutes of The Executive Council of Upper Canada dated June 20, 1794 stating John Willson the memorialist is now in possession of a lot of one hundred acres adjoining the reserved lands on Mount Dorchester, prays to be allowed to exchange the lot for an adjoining lot in the reserve. The Council ordered this referred to the Surveyor General. (Stamford Township Papers 0428)

Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith certified the petition of John Wilson being referred to him, he assigned to John Wilson Lot No. 96 in the Township of Stamford containing one hundred acres. In lieu of the aforesaid lot, John Wilson has resigned to Smith the his certificate for Lot No. 106 containing 100 acres. (Stamford Township Papers 0429)


Wilson, Thomas

On 3 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of Thomas Wilson for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 (Stamford) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. Wrong, John

On 14 Jul 1796 John Wrong aged 43, born in Barbadoes, blacksmith appeared before Robert Kerr J. P. and took the prescribed oaths and was recommended for a grant of two hundred acres of land. (Stamford Township Papers 0192)
