Pattey, John

On 8 Oct 1801 Willson Doan appeared before Thomas Cummings J. P. at Chippawa and affirmed (he being of the people called Quakers) that his father Titus Doan obtained from Government an order for six hundred acres of land within this Province. That he the said Titus Doan contracted for the sale of two hundred acres part of the said six hundred to David Morgan and at the request of said David gave written leave to Walter Anderson to locate the said two hundred acres, and also two hundred acres, part of the said six hundred to Thomas Doan Senior, and the remaining two hundred acres he the said Titus Doan exchanged with John Pattey for two hundred acres of land in Humberstone where on the said Titus now resides. Pierson, Mathew

Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Mathew Peirce (sic) for one hundred acres of land in Lot 15 Concession 1 Crowland Twp. Written at bottom: Endorsed 6 Oct 1795 from Matthew Pearson (sic) to John Stansfield. (Crowland Township Papers 0105)

Acting Surveyors General Chewett and Ridout prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Mathew Pierson of the Township of Crowland now of Queenstown, yeoman, for one hundred acres of land in Lot 15 Concession 1 Crowland Twp. as per Magistrates Recommendation dated 10 Nov 1794 and Attorney General’s Office No. 8940 dated 3 Jun 1808. Potts, John

On 11 May 1795 John Potts aged 31, born in Pensalvany (sic), farmer appeared before Dan Millard J. P. and took the prescribed oaths and was recommended for a grant of two hundred acres of land. On 28 Apr 1794 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 11 and 12 on Chippewa Township of No. 2 South side (Crowland Twp.) Note in the margin: This contains Lots 11 and 12 broken front, the front of Lots 11 and 12 1st Concession. (Crowland Township Papers 0356)

On 12 Apr 1794 the Land Board read the petition of John Potts for a grant of two hundred acres of land in Township No. 2 south side of Chipewa Creek (Crowland) and found him qualified to receive two hundred acres of land. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 11 and 12 Front Concession in the Township of No. 2 South side. On 8 Jan 1816 Surveyor General Thomas Ridout prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for John Potts of the Township of Crowland, yeoman, for two hundred acres of land in Lots 11 and 12 Concession in the broken front and the front or north halves of Lots 11 and 12 Concession 1 Crowland Twp. as per Land Board Certificate dated 26 Apr 1794. Patent Fee paid to the Receiver General 31 Dec 1815. (Crowland Township Papers 0049)

Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith prepared an undated surveyor’s assignment for Richard Ruth for two hundred acres of land in the northern major parts of Lots 17 and 18 Concession 7 Crowland Twp. (Crowland Township Papers 0528)

On 4 May 1795 Richard Ruth aged 56, born in the State of New Jersey, farmer appeared before John Small and took the prescribed oaths and was recommended for a grant of two hundred acres of land. On 6 May 1795 Acting Surveyor General D. W. Smith assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 17 and 18 Concession 7 Crowland Twp. (Crowland Township Papers 0530)
