On 18 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of George Darby for a grant of 200 acres of land in the Township No. 3 (Grantham) and found him qualified for a grant of 200 acres. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lots 14 and 15 Concession 3 in the Township of No. 3. (Grantham Township Papers 0183)

Darby, John

On 22 Feb 1803 The Executive Council of Upper Canada of Upper Canada gave a grant to ­­­­­John Darbie of the Township of Grantham, yeoman for two hundred acres in the broken Lot 14 in the broken front of Grantham Twp. under 35th Claim 1st Niagara Commission 1803. (Grantham Township Papers 0233)

Ellis, John

Extract from the report of lands claimed before the Commissioners for the County of Lincoln and allowed, dated Newark 8th May 1798. John Ellis 12-7th –100-Grantham-Joseph Brown. It appears by the Surveyor Generals Report dated 12th July 1798, on the above mentioned Commissioners Report, that no description had then issued for the above mentioned lot. On 26 Feb 1806 Thomas Scott, Secretary of the Executive Council ordered a description be issued to John Ellis under the Niagara Commission in May 1798 for Lot No. 12 in the 7th Concession of Grantham, Joseph Brown, original nominee. Claim No. 2. (Grantham Township Papers 0620)
