On 8 Mar 1802 The Executive Council of Upper Canada of Upper Canada gave a grant to Thomas Otway Page of the Township of Niagara for one acre in Town Lot 162 on Gage Street in the Town of Niagara under the 19th Claim Niagara Commission 1799. (Niagara Town Papers 0832)

On 20 Dec 1802 Thomas Otway Page wrote to Acting Surveyors General Chewett and Ridout stating Samuel Letch was the original nominee of Lot 162 in the Town of Niagara and Lot 161 one acre was granted to Thomas Lake and bought by Page. It passed the Court and was ordered by His Honor the Chief Justice that the deed should be made out in Page’s name. (Niagara Town Papers 0844)

Phelps, Davenport

On 7 Jun 1794 the Land Board read the petition of William Reynolds for a grant of one acre of land in the Town of Newark (Niagara) and found him qualified and assigned to him Town Lot 112. Added note of the Land Board dated 7 Jun 1794: Mr. Reynolds has permission to transfer this certificate for Lot No. 112 Town of Newark to Davenport Phelps. (Niagara Town Papers 0922, 0923)

On 22 Apr 1799 Davenport Phelps Esq. entered a caveat against making out or issuing and grant for Lot 112 in the Town of Niagara in the name of William Reynolds or any other person until it shall be determined by His Majesty’s Council to whom the lot rightfully belongs. (Niagara Town Papers 0867)

On 9 Jul 1802 J Elmsley, Chairman wrote the certificate of the Land Board with the assignment permitted by it having this day being produced to the Board, recommended that the existing deed to Reynolds which appears to have been prepared by mistake be cancelled and another for the same lot to petitioner.
