Reid, George
On 18 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of Andrew Butler for a grant of 200 acres of land in the Township No. 3 (Grantham) and found him qualified for a grant of 200 acres. The order was referred to Acting Surveyor General Augustus Jones who assigned to him two hundred acres in Lot 10 Concessions 1 and 2 in the Township of No. 3. Added note of the Land Board dated 11 Apr 1791: Lieut. Andrew Butler having this day petitioned the Board for leave to sell the within Lot to George Reid we do hereby confirm the said sale and direct that this Lot No. 10 in first concession of Township No. 3 shall stand in the name and remain the property of the said George Reid. On 18 Jan 1791 the Land Board read the petition of John Reid for a grant of three hundred acres of land in Township No. 3 (Grantham) and found he has received two hundred acres of land in Township No. 3 as a loyal subject and he has settled on and improved the same and that he is entitled to a further assignment of three hundred acres for his family. On 11 Jun 1803 William Dickson wrote a memorandum to Messrs. Chewett and Ridout, Acting Surveyors General stating searches are wanted for the following persons locations: Peter Secord Junr. Lots 135 and 136 in the Township of Niagara; Donald McDonald Lot 253 in the Town of Niagara; John Rock Lot 179 in the Town of Niagara; William Osterholt Lot 3 in 7 and 8th Concession Grantham. This was by authority of The Land Board—transferred to John Clement and the certificate assignment and transfer lodged with Mr. White late Attorney General, yet cannot be now found.
