Steak 'n Shake Frisco Patty Melts

What you need:

For the Frisco sauce:

    • 1/2 cup thousand island dressing
    • 1/2 cup French dressing
    • 2 Tbsp. ketchup
    • 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

For the burgers:

    • 1 lb. ground chuck (per 4 patties - enough for 2 people)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Onion powder
    • Garlic powder
    • Sourdough bread
    • Unsalted butter, at room temperature
    • Sliced American cheese
    • Sliced mozzarella cheese

Directions:

    1. For the Frisco sauce: mix all ingredients together and chill in refrigerator.
    2. For the burgers: Form ground beef into 4 balls.
    3. Place on a griddle set at 375 degrees or a cast iron skillet set on medium-high heat.
    4. Using a spatula, press balls into thin patties, then immediately season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
    5. Flip when edges begin to brown and season on the other side. Then place a piece of American cheese on two of the patties and a piece of mozzarella cheese on two patties.
    6. Meanwhile, spread butter on one side of each piece of bread and toast in a nonstick pan.
    7. Once burgers are done cooking, build your burgers by spreading Frisco sauce on each piece of bread, topping with a mozzarella-topped burger, then an American-topped burger, followed by another piece of bread.
