Steak 'n Shake Frisco Patty Melts
What you need:
For the Frisco sauce:
- 1/2 cup thousand island dressing
- 1/2 cup French dressing
- 2 Tbsp. ketchup
- 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
For the burgers:
- 1 lb. ground chuck (per 4 patties - enough for 2 people)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Sourdough bread
- Unsalted butter, at room temperature
- Sliced American cheese
- Sliced mozzarella cheese
Directions:
- For the Frisco sauce: mix all ingredients together and chill in refrigerator.
- For the burgers: Form ground beef into 4 balls.
- Place on a griddle set at 375 degrees or a cast iron skillet set on medium-high heat.
- Using a spatula, press balls into thin patties, then immediately season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Flip when edges begin to brown and season on the other side. Then place a piece of American cheese on two of the patties and a piece of mozzarella cheese on two patties.
- Meanwhile, spread butter on one side of each piece of bread and toast in a nonstick pan.
- Once burgers are done cooking, build your burgers by spreading Frisco sauce on each piece of bread, topping with a mozzarella-topped burger, then an American-topped burger, followed by another piece of bread.
