Chocolate Oreo Cream Cake
What you need:
For the cake:
- 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
- Ingredients as called for on the box
For the filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups Cool Whip
- 12 Oreos, crushed coarsely
For the frosting:
- 1/3 cup plus 1 Tbsp. cocoa powder
- 6 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
- 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 5 to 6 Tbsp. milk, plus some if needed
Directions:
- Prepare cake according to package instructions and pour into two 9-inch round cake pans prepared with parchment paper and sprayed with nonstick spray.
- Cook cake according to package instructions and let cool for 10 minutes in pans. Then remove and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once the cakes have cooled, make filling by beating cream cheese and sugar together.
- Fold in Cool Whip and then fold in crushed Oreos.
- Make frosting by whisking cocoa powder and powdered sugar together.
- Add butter, vanilla, and milk. Blend until smooth, adding additional milk until desired consistency is reached.
- To assemble, even the tops of the cakes by cutting with a serrated knife. Top one cake with half the filling and then the other cake.
- Fill in the middle with remaining filling so that the sides are even. You may have leftover filling.
- Frost entire cake and then serve!
