Intermediate Hurling

Ballina clashed with a strong Moyne-Templetuohy team in Dolla last Sunday afternoon, the game was played in ideal weather conditions and the pitch was perfect for hurling. This was a tough tight game, with defences on both sides in control for most of the contest. At the interval, both teams were level at 8 points each. The turning point of the game, was the awarding of a pentalty, after T.J. O Connell was fouled in the square, Martin McKeogh drove a unstoppable shot to the roof of the net, to put Ballina ahead by 2 points. They added 3 more points in the last 5 minutes, to leave final score 1-15 to 0-13 in favour of Ballina. Their next game is against St Mary's ,which will be played in Clonmel in 2 weeks time. The Junior A's are out in the league next weekend after receiving a bye in the ist round.

Ballina embraces Scrap Saturday

Who would have guessed there was so much scrap metal in Ballina ? The people of Ballina were quick off the mark last Saturday morning to avail of the opportunity to dispose of some unwanted metal items, whilst also supporting their local club. A ten tonne skip which looked very big when it arrived, was full to the point of over-flowing shortly after lunchtime and the demand for the service was such that the club will consider running another such day in the near future.

U6 & U8 Start Dates

For those parents who have young children asking them about the start date for U6 (mixed) & U8 (boys) GAA this year, you can tell them it's Saturday April 9th. Last year we had 52 U6's on the first morning, so it will be very busy and it is a good idea to get your subsidised helmets and hurleys in advance. Contact Eamonn at (086) 7737 237 to avail of this.
