Sympathy

Ballina G.A.A. club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Jimmy Ryan Boher. Jimmy hurled through the fifties and sixties with Ballina, he won a North Junior medal in 1967, when Ballina captured the North junior title. He moved to Dublin in 1969 and joined the Ballymun

Kickham's club where he continued to hurl until 1981, when he was voted hurler of the year with the club. After retiring from the hurling field, he became a steward in Croke Park for nearly forty years, a job he performed with true dedication. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dílis.

Under 21 Footballers

Were the 1st team in Ballina to do battle in this years championship, when they lined out against a very fancied Shannon Rovers Gaels, in Ballina last Saturday. Played under ideal weather conditions, Ballina settled very quickly,at the interval they held a six point lead, and did not allow the Rovers to score, in the 2nd half they continued their good work, when they managed to score another 5 points, as against one for the Rovers. This was a great team effort, Ballina now go on to play Newport in Newport next Saturday, (see fixtures for details).
