Ballina U16s continued their good start to the football championship with a comprehensive win at home against Silvermines last Monday evening. Physically stronger throughout the field Ballina got the upper hand early on and despite conceding an early goal went in at half time with a good lead helped by a goal from David Kelly. With the aid of a strong wind in the second half Ballina never looked in danger and added further goals from Daniel Joslin and Conan O'Sullivan. Next up is Moneygall away on Monday.

The U12s were denied by the bare minimum in both their matches last Friday night. The Red Team faced a creative Moneygall side who used their limited possession very well. Try as they might, the lads could not peg them back after they had gone ahead by a few scores after a wind-assisted first half. Although they totally dominated the second half, they could not get back on terms and were a single point in arrears at the last whistle. Cameron MacAuley and Conor Power were the starts of the show with honourable mentions for Matthew Power and Josh Egan who once again gave every ounce of energy he had to offer. The Blue team faced near neighbours Portroe and although they started strongly, were eventually reeled in by a competitive Port outfit. Two early goals by Sam Loughran drove the lads on and a mature display by debutante goalkeeper Kian Donnelly kept us in it, but we had to give second best to the Port boys by a single point. Here's to a little luck next week when we play Silvermines and Templederry !
