Juvenile Notes:

U6/U8

The U6s next game is on August 19th v. Ballinahinch.

The U8s played Kildangan last Saturday morning in Ballina.

U10s

The U10s travelled to Dr Morris Park last Saturday morning to take part in a blitz.

U12s

U12 Group B played Lorrha in the North Tipp Quarter final on Friday evening. It was a close game with some great hurling played by both sides. Ballina held out with a strong second half display to win on a scoreline of 3.3 to 2.3. They now play Borrisoleigh in the North Semi next Saturday. Time to be confirmed.

U12 Group D played Moneygall on Saturday evening in their Quarter final. They came up against a strong and physically much bigger side and, despite battling, bravely lost out.

U14/16s

U14s and U16s had a great training session last Sat am with senior club players Thomas Collins and Brian Mc Keogh.

U16s next game is away to Newport on August 10th.

Skills Camp for Older Juveniles

The skills camp which was hosted by Shane Mc Grath last week was a great success. Players from U12, U14 and U16 took part over 3 days. They were coached by Shane with guest coaches on each day. On Tuesday, Cathal Barrett coached them on defensive play. On Wednesday, Paddy Stapleton gave them tips on strength and conditioning and on Thursday, Seamus Callanan coached them on forward play and free taking.

Senior Notes:

Junior B Hurlers:

Ballina had a good win over Nenagh Eire Og on Sunday 2nd August in Ballina in the Junior B Hurling Championship. The lads kept up their impressive form from the Toomevara game and were on top in most areas of the field. Final score: Ballina 3-14, Nenagh Eire Og 1-5. Ballina's final group game will be at home to Lorrha, most likely on Friday 14th August.

Minor Hurlers:

Ballina picked up their first win of the Minor B hurling Championship at home to Silvermines on Wed 29th July. Prior to this game, Silvermines had a 100% record, but the panel put in a great hour’s hurling to come out on top by 2-points Final Score: Ballina 3-10, Silvermines 2-11.

Ballina have 1 group game remaining at home to Templederry. So far in the group, everyone has won at least 1 game & lost at least 1 game, so a win here could put the lads right back in the hunt for a knock-out spot. This fixture is not likely to take place until after Tipp's All-Ireland Semi-final.

Senior Hurlers

Ballina will play the James McKeogh Memorial Tournament on Sunday next in Ballina. Check out website, twitter or Facebook for full details closer to the day.

Senior Camogie:

Hard luck to Tipperary & Sarah Devane who lost in the All-Ireland Camogie Quarter Final on Saturday last to Cork.
