Minor A North Football Champions !

Congratulations to our minors who defeated Lorrha in the replay of the North Minor A Football Final, which was played in Nenagh last Saturday afternoon. In difficult conditions, neither team failed to register a score until the the thirteenth minute of the 1st half, when Rossa Taylor got Ballina's 1st point from play, which was immediately followed by a great goal from Dan Finnerty. This was the start of a golden spell in which they managed to score another two goals and four points before the interval, the goals coming through the impressive Phelim O Hagan. The 2nd half was a more balanced affair with Lorrha scoring 3 points, and Ballina managed to add 4 more points, to make final score 3-9 to 0-3. Overall this was a great team display by a very determined Ballina outfit who dominated in most areas of the field, but special mention must be made of the 6 backs who were absolutely superb all through, holding the Lorrha forwards scorless in the 1st half and restricting them to just 3 points over the whole game. They now meet Golden in the County Semi - Final, it is hoped to play this game next weekend
