Ballina GAA Juvenile Club would like to express its sympathy to the Loughran family of Garrynatineel, Ballina on the recent death of Linda Loughran. The Loughran family has been very involved in the juvenile club for a number of years and in a show of support & empathy for their grieving friends, the children of the juvenile club formed a guard of honour for the removal on Wednesday night to Ballina church. Linda is survived by her husband Padraig, Sons Marc & Sam and daughter Zoe. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam uasal.

North Tipp Juvenile Hurling Update

The U12’s played Nenagh in the North Tipp Premier 12’s in Ballina last Monday night. Fielding two teams, Ballina started slowly in both games. One of the rules of this competition to maximise particiaption for all is that all subs have to get game time (at least one half). This typically guarantees the quinticential “game of two halves” with a whole host of changes on both sides for the second half. As expected, the second half saw a change in fortunes in both matches with one of the Ballina teams pushing Nenagh all the way to get within a point at the final whistle and the other team coming under increasing pressure against the wind and failing to capitalise on a solid first half. These are great experiences for our young U12 hurlers and they are doing well and having fun. Come along and support them.

The U14’s have also been going nicely in the championship. Last Saturday, Ballina played out a low scoring draw against Templederry (Ballina 0:07 Templederry 1:04). The previous week the Ballina boys came out on top in a battle with Burgess on a 2:06 to 1:06 scoreline. Best of luck to both teams in their remaining fixtures.
