Sympathy

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the O' Sullivan family Ayrestown on the untimely death of Michael Sullivan who was laid to rest in Kilmastulla Cemetery after Requiem Mass in Ballina on Wednesday last. Michael was a stylish hurler who played at all grades with Ballina between the mid-fifties and mid -seventies, the highlight of his hurling career was winning the North Junior A Final in 1967 when he played at corner forward. County Draw

The new County Draw will be launched Mon 11th of April, and the Ist draw will be held Frid 20th of May. This draw will feature a great array of prizes including the Skoda Superb as the Star prize in the 1st draw, and a €250 cash prize for the top promoter in each club. The County Draw is a lifeline for both club and county, new promoters are encouraged to join the sales effort in order to maintain, and if possible to increase County Draw income, especially in light of the new county sponsor Skoda coming on board. Please return outstanding monies from old draw to Eugene Power as soon as possible.

Junior A Championship:

The Junior A's went down by 2 points to a strong Lorrha team in Lorrha last Sunday evening. They put up

a good battle and were a bit unlucky to loose out in the end. They will be out again next weekend. (see fixtures for details). Training;Continues for the Intermediate and Junior hurlers on Wed and Friday night @ 8.00pm.

North Tipperary Juvenile Football Championship

It was a disappointing week for the U14 & U16 footballers, who came out on the wrong side against Inane Rovers & Nenagh respectively. The U12 footballers fared considerably better winning hansomely at home at the expense of Newport. The U12 Championship as we knew it was discontinued in 2010, and in place of it is the Premier 12's.This is still a competitive campaign, but under national GAA guidelines intended to increase participation, all subs have to be used.

U10 Hurling Blitz

The U10 hurlers had a very satisfactory outing at a hurling blitz in Newport last Saturday. Facing the home team as well as Ballinahinch & Silvermines, it was the Ballina boys' first hurling match of the year. There was some great team play on view as well as some nice scores and great defending. Like all blitzes, every one of the 22 boys who travelled got game time and they all enjoyed themselves.
