Juvenile Notes:

U6/U8

Our U6 and U8 players had the honour of being the first to train in the new pitch this week after the perimeter fencing was completed. It was fantastic to finally see the new field being used and to see our youngest members be hopefully the first of many generations to play in it.

Under 6's & Under 8's first onto New Field

U10s

“U10s Win on the double in the Jim Commons Memorial Tournament!”

The U10 boys had a fantastic day in Murroe Boher GAA Club last Saturday, at a tournament held in honour of the late Jim Commons, a staunch Murroe Boher clubman. It was a very well organised event with a barbecue and refreshments for all. Attending the event were the hosts, Dicksboro of Kilkenny and ourselves - each club with 2 x 9 a side teams. In the event, both Ballina teams made it into separate finals and both won with the blue squad beating the hosts in the shield final and the red squad doggedly denying a star-studded Dicksboro team in the cup final. Well done to the boys and their coaches!

Blue Squad: 1 William Bennett-Quaid, 2 Jack Meagher, 3 Sean Lyons, 4 Billy Collins, 5 Conor Neill (Captain), 6 Simon Grace, 7 Luke Power, 8 Paddy Bradley, 9 Pierce Ryan, 10 Conor Shanahan, 11 Callum Foley, 12 Niall Hannon, 13 Callum Black.

Red Squad: 1 Ger Sage, 2 Evan Carey, 3 Donal Houlihan, 4 Cillian Ryan, 5 Charlie Grace, 6 Zach Egan, 7 JP Mbokha Tansia, 8 Cian O'Donoghue, 9 Charlie King, 10 Jamie Meacham, 11 Conor Stritch, 12 Evan Ryan, 13 Darragh Ryan

Under-10's at Jim Commons Tournament 22 Aug 2015

Our own John Joe Nevin tournament takes place on Sunday September 13th. This year, the tournament will be an 11-a-side format, with Smith O'Briens, Murroe-Boher, Newport and ourselves taking part - each entering 2 teams. With the prospect of having some action (weather permitting) on the new field, it promises to be a special day for the club, the community and the Nevin family as one of Ballina's finest is remembered.

U12s

The U12 s played Patrickswell last Saturday in Ballina in a challenge match.

U13s

The U13s played challenge matches in the past week v Bodyke and Murroe Boher.

They will take part in The U13 Plate competition organised by the North Board. The fixtures for this are not yet available but it is proposed to start this coming weekend.

The U16s played Burgess on Monday night in a playoff. No result available at time of going to press.
