Player of the Month

A special mention this week must go to Steven O'Brien on being awarded "GAA/GPA Opel Footballer of the Month for May" It is a great honour for the club to see Steven being recognised nationally for his performances with the Premier County to date.

5 year plan

Following the general meeting of the club on Friday 12th June, it has been decided to run a club forum on the 10th September (provisional date). We are drafting a plan under a number of areas for club development and we will be sharing these with the members over the coming months. Our first area is “Physical Development”. If you have any thoughts or ideas or would like to be included in drafting this, please email Gerard at secretary.ballina.tipperary@gaa.ie

Lotto Results

No winner of the lotto last week. Numbers drawn were 9,13,14,22.

Jackpot for this week is €7,400. Lines are €2 each and can be bought online by clicking on the lotto link on the Ballina GAA website, https://www.locallotto.ie/localhome.asp?LL_ID=390

Juvenile Notes:

U6s & U8s

The U6s have a game at home this Wednesday evening.

The U8s have great numbers at training every week and continue to improve their skills.

U10s

The U10s are looking forward to the upcoming Brian Boru competition on the first weekend of July.

U12s

U12 B Group had a close fought win over Newport last Friday on a score line of 3.8 to 3.7.

U12 D Group put on a great battle but lost to Newport by 2.1 to 1.2.

Both teams are at home this coming Friday evening. B Group play Borrisilleigh while D Group play Burgess. Please come down to the field and support these young players!

U14s

The U14s started their championship on Tuesday 9th June at home v Roscrea.

They suffered a defeat to an excellent Roscrea team but there were some great performances from some of the Ballina lads, namely Josh Egan who got some fantastic scores from play while Matthew Power’s free taking on the night was superb.

There next outing is away to Borrisokane this week.

Best of luck to Josh Egan in The Primary Game at half time in Sunday’s Munster Semi Final in The Gaelic Grounds.

U16

The 16s are finished exams so their mind will now turn to the start of their hurling championship on June 29th

Cul Camp

You can book online or with Ronnie Power for Cul Camp which takes place from July 13th to 17th.

It is also proposed to hold a camp for older juveniles later in the Summer. More details when finalised.

Senior Notes:

Senior Hurling

Our Senior Hurlers will play JK Brackens on Friday evening, 19th June in Nenagh in the County Senior Hurling Challenge Cup (Holohan Cup) Semi-final. Hopefully we will have good support on the night.

Ballina will play Templederry Kenyons in the North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Finals. At the moment, this game is fixed for Sunday 28th June.

Junior “B” & Minor Hurling:

Our Junior "B" Hurlers are also due to play their first game of the championship on the weekend of June 28th.

Our Minor Hurlers will open their championship campaign on Thursday 25th June.

Inter-County

Hard luck to Steven O'Brien and the Tipperary Senior footballers who lost out to All-Ireland champions Kerry in the Munster semi-final last weekend. Tipp will now face into the qualifiers - most likely July 11th for first game. Hard luck also to the Tipperary Junior Footballers who lost to Kerry as well in the Munster semi-final.

Best wishes to Michael Breen & the Tipperary Senior Hurlers who play Limerick in the Munster Semi-final on Sunday in Limerick. Tipperary Intermediate Hurlers will also play Limerick as part of the same bill. On Wednesday 24th June - Tipperary Minor Hurlers play Clare in Thurles in the Munster semi-final.
