Juvenile Notes:

U6/U8

Both pitches were a hive of activity on Saturday morning last with the U6s playing Newport and Nenagh and the U8s playing Nenagh. There was some great hurling done by both age groups. It’s great to see such big numbers on the side-lines supporting our youngest players.

U10s

The U10s continue their preparation for The John Joe Nevin Tournament with a trip to Caherdavin this Thursday to play Limerick city team, Na Piarsaigh in a challenge match.

U13s

The U13s had a challenge game in Ballina against Kilruane Mc Donaghs last Saturday and were worthy winners with a strong second half display. They take part in The U13 Plate, which begins next Saturday. They play Kildangan in Ballina at 5pm.

U16s

The U16s season came to an end last Monday evening with a loss to Burgess in a quarter-final playoff.

Senior Notes:

Junior B Hurlers:

It looks like our Junior Hurlers will play their North semi-final on the weekend of 12th/13th September against Portroe. Check out fixtures for details.

Senior Hurlers

Our Senior Hurlers brought down the curtain on the year on Sunday last the 30th August in Toomevara. Ballina faced Moyne/Templetuohy in the James Holohan (County Challenge Cup) Cup Final.

While Moyne/Templetuohy were understrength, Ballina put in a very determined display, Ballina dominated from start to finish leading 4-10 to 3-05 at half-time. The scoring eased off in the second half - but only slightly. Ballina won in the end on a scoreline of Ballina 7-18, Moyne/Templetuohy 4-12.

Afterwards, Brian McKeogh received the James Holohan Cup on behalf of the squad. Well done to the entire panel. It gives the club a base to build on for 2016. Well done to the management and back room team also.

Ballina: Adrian Power; Donal Kent, Jerry O'Brien, Rody Kennedy; Terry O'Halloran, Thomas Collins, Aidan Hanley; Sean McKeogh, Steven O'Brien; Patrick Cosgove, Michael Breen, Brian McKeogh; David Hickey, Diarmuid Healy, Ben King. Subs Used: Kevin Cosgrove, Martin McKeogh, Brian Connolly, Peter O'Leary & Martin Kennedy.

We wish a speedy recovery to Adrian Power who received an arm injury in the game. The players hope to go to Kilmacud this Saturday for the Annual Hurling 7's. Please keep an eye on our twitter/website for more details.

U21 Hurlers

Ballina will play Kilruane in the opening game of the Under-21 "A" Hurling championship. This game will be in the coming weeks.

Junior Footballers

Our Junior Footballers are due to play Newport in round 1 of the championship this Wednesday 2nd September in Ballina. If you can, please get out and support. Shannon Rovers and Lorrha are also in this championship.

Tipperary Minors

Congratulations to Tipperary Minor Footballers on their great win over Kildare in the All-Ireland semi-final. Tipperary will play Kerry in the final on Sunday 20th September. Best wishes to Tipperary Minor Hurlers in the All-Ireland final on Sunday against Galway in Croke Park.

Intermediate Hurling:

Congratulations to Newport on their North Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Championship success. Hard luck to Ballinahinch and best wishes to both our neighbours in the county quarter finals.
