Ballina GAA Notes 23rd March 2015

Membership /Registration:

As we are now almost at the end of March, we wish to remind all remaining club members that membership is now due. The list of registered members will be posted in the GAA Complex each week. Membership must be paid by the 31st March to enable you to play and also to have a vote in the AGM.

Please contact any club officer ASAP about renewing your membership or go online to http://ballina.tipperary.gaa.ie/registration.

Membership has been set at €45 for full adult membership for the year. All registration types available from the registration link above. Rates have remained unchanged for the last number of years.

Scrap Saturday:

Scrap Metal collection in BALLINA GAA club on Saturday 28th March from 8am to 2pm. The list of items that we can accept are: Car parts, Tractor parts, Steel, Washing Machines, Copper, Batteries, Gates, All metal items etc. Usual household Items. This is a very good opportunity for the club to raise funds for the on-going running of the club/ new field development, and we would encourage you all to avail of the facility. If you have larger items that you would like collected, please call John on 0872891242

5-year plan:

We are in the initial stages of drawing up a 5-year plan under the chairmanship of Peter King. If you feel that you would like to make an input to the immediate to mid term future direction of the club, please email your thoughts and comments to secretary.ballina.tipperary@gaa.ie mentioning "5-year Plan" in subject matter, particularly if living away from home.

Lotto Results:

There was no winner of the lotto last week. Winning numbers were 4,10,21,28.

Jackpot for this week is €19,800. Lines are €2 each and can be bought online by clicking on the lotto link on the Ballina GAA website. ‘If you’re not in, you can’t win!’

Juvenile Notes:

With competitive action resuming in the coming weeks for U12, U14 and U16s, please note that registration is now due and can be paid online. You must be registered to play.

Results:

The U 12 Group 1 team started their football season last Friday evening and played out a very exciting draw against Silvermines in Dolla.

The U16s were understrength for their first outing of the year and went down to Kilruane Mc Donaghs on Saturday morning.

U12 Group 1 v Nenagh in Ballina on Friday March 27th

U12 Group 4 v Nenagh in Ballina on Friday March 27th

U12 Group 3 v Lorrha in Ballina on Sunday March 29th at 12:00

U16 v Inane Rovers in Ballina on Monday March 30th

North Tipperary Divisional Teams:

Best of luck to Conor Bourke with the North Tipp U15 divisional team and to Robbie Breen with the North Tipp U14 team. The U14s play in the Peadar Cummins Tournament in Borris-ileigh on Saturday March 28th

Easter Camp:

Easter Camp is now confirmed for Tuesday 31st March, Wednesday 1st April & Thursday 2nd April. The camp will run from 10am to 1pm each day, and each child receives a sliotar and football on completion of camp.

There is no online booking facility for this camp but bookings can be made through Ronnie Power, Juvenile Secretary, or you can register on the morning of the first day.

Senior Notes:

Senior Hurling Challenge Cup:

Ballina 4-15, Killenaule 0-20

Killenaule were visitors to Ballina on Sunday last, 21st March 2015. Killenaule opened with a couple of points, before Ballina found the range. Goals from Ben King, Eoin Kent & Ronan Bourke set Ballina on their way to a 3-4 to 0-9 half-time lead.

A goal early in the second half from Brian McKeogh put Ballina firmly in the driving seat and in a very loose game, Ballina recorded a 7-point win.

Ballina are now through to the Holohan Cup semi-final. Opposition, venue, date & time TBC.

Ballina will play Clonoulty/Rossmore in Round 1 of Roinn I of the County Senior Hurling Championship-most likely weekend 12th April.

Junior B Hurling League:

Ballina begin the Junior "B" league on Saturday evening in Borrisokane against Borrisokane. Please check fixtures for details. All players to check with Management team of Sean Collins, Aaron Devane or Michael Hurley.

Minor A Football Championship:

Ballina's Minor Football championship group has been redrawn. Ballina have a bye in Round 1 and are grouped with Inane Rovers & Kildangan. Please check with Management of Michael Cyran, Dermot Gleeson or Fran Hogan for more details.

Congratulations:

Well done to Steven O'Brien & the Tipp U21 Footballers who had a good win over Clare in the Munster Semi-final. Tipp will face Cork in the Munster Final on Wednesday 8th April.

Well done to Michael Breen & the Tipp Senior Hurlers on their win over Cork to top Division 1A. Tipp will play Offaly in the Quarter Final this weekend.

Tipp lost out to Wexford in the National Camogie League. Hard luck to Tipp & Sarah Devane.

Well done to Brendan McKeogh & Cistercian Roscrea on their Leinster Schools Cup success.
