Juvenile Notes:

U6s & U8s

The U6s travelled across the bridge to Killaloe on Tuesday evening to play a match against Smith O’Briens. Well done to all the boys and looking forward to seeing you play many more games over the Summer!

The U8s played a challenge match against Parteen and did very well in all their games playing some great hurling and showing great skill. Well done boys.

U10s

The U10 boys have been very busy in the last week. On Thursday last, Smith O'Briens came across the bridge to play us. It was a damp evening but the hurling was hotly contested and was played in a competitive, sporting manner. There were some great displays but especially pleasing was the sight of lads hitting off their weaker sides, These are the days for trying such things and the boys did really well. Two days later, it was off to Dr. Morris Park for the monthly blitz. On a warm summer's day there was again much to admire about the lads and the way they went about their business. They played three games in all v Moyne-Templetuohy, Upperchurch Drombane and finally in a physical challenge v Clonoulty Rossmore. These are great learning opportunities for our young hurlers and well done to the organisers.

U11s

The U11s played JK Brackens in Templemore on Monday evening in the North Tipp final of Community Games. No result available at time of going to press.

U12s

The U12 Hurling grading’s will be confirmed this week with the fixtures to follow.

U14s

The U14s played two very useful hurling challenges in the past week against Limerick opposition of Ahane and Murroe/Boher.

They lost out to Ahane but were much improved against Murroe/Boher coming away with a good win.

The U14 hurling championship starts on June 3rd away to Kilruane McDonaghs.

U16s

Best of luck to our U16 players that are studying for the junior cert at the moment.

Schools

Ballina National School played in The North Tipp final on Tuesday. No Result available at time of going to press.

Best of luck to Josh Egan from Boher National School who continues to attend trials for The Tipperary Primary Games team.

Congrats to Cian Neill and Neil Webster who were on the St Munchins U14 team that beat St Clements in The County Limerick Shield Schools Final.

Hard luck to Corey Ryan and David Grace who were part of the Nenagh CBS team that lost out to Thurles CBS in The Rice Cup Final last week.

Club Shop

Make sure you call to the club shop on Saturday mornings during training where you can buy helmets, hurleys and crested club gear. All profits go to the new field.

Senior Notes:

Senior Hurling

Our Senior Hurlers remain in the North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship following a tremendous performance on Saturday last in Puckane. Ballina took on Kilruane MacDonaghs in Round 2 of the North Championship.

After losing in Round 1 to Silvermines, we needed a win or else our championship year was over. From start to finish, all 17 players involved gave every last ounce of sweat to the cause.

We got an ideal start with a goal inside the first minute and the game ebbed & flowed after that. Kilruane got two-first half goals also and at half-time, Kilruane were ahead by 2-9 to 1-9.

Ballina faced into a slight breeze in the second half, but continued to pile on the pressure. In the end, we came out on top to win by 2-17 to 2-14.

Ballina: Adrian Power; Donal Kent, Jerry O'Brien, Rody Kennedy; Brian O'Connor, Thomas Collins, Kevin Cosgrove, Sean McKeogh, Steven O'Brien; David Hickey, Michael Breen, Patrick Cosgrove; Ronan Bourke, Diarmuid Healy, Brian McKeogh. Subs used: Terry O'Halloran & Ben King.

Ballina will now move into Round 3 & more details will follow after this weekend.

Junior “B” Hurling:

Ballina will play their final Junior "B" League game on Sunday morning in Ballina. Check fixtures for further details. The Junior "B" Hurling championship will be starting shortly, so it’s vital that we get in a good performance prior to this.

Minor Hurling

Ballina will play Lorrha in round 1 of the Minor "B" Hurling championship towards the end of June.

Tipperary Senior Football

Best wishes to Steven O'Brien and the Tipperary Senior Football team on Sunday 31st May against Waterford in Semple Stadium. Hopefully Tipperary will have good support for this Munster Quarter Final. Tipp Junior footballers play Waterford at 13:30.

Munster Senior Hurling:

Tipperary Senior Hurlers will play Limerick in Limerick on Sunday 21st June at 4:00pm. As soon as we know better, we will issue ticket details. Please keep an eye on our website, Facebook page & twitter feed for more details.
