The better our understanding of the cause of the many changes that can occur to the Earth’s surface, the better our chances are of reducing the negative impact of these changes.
Skills ākonga learn are; modelling, pattern-seeking, interpreting text, understanding how Science develops theories and ideas and how different systems link together.
The main area that this course will be in is “Planet earth”. Material world (Chemistry) and Physical world (Physics) will also be covered with respect to the forces involved in changing the Earth.
Many of the skills involved lead into NCEA Level 1 Science (Year 11). Also ākonga can use this course as a start point for NCEA Level 2 and 3 Earth and Space Science.
Course material will be supplied as part of the course.
