When does this course run: The course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can choose one or two semesters).
Year 9 Health looks at a range of topics that contribute to a person’s overall Hauora.

We will look at models of wellbeing such as Te Whare Tapa Wha. This wellbeing model will be used to unpack topics such as Relating to Others - Healthy Relationships, Mental Health - Resilience, Sexuality Education - Puberty, Decision Making - Vaping, Keeping Ourselves Safe Online.
How to manage self.
Assertive communication, sound and informed decision making.
Speaking up and accessing help when needed (looking out for self & others),
Resilience.
The course will be classroom based, using different resources to encourage critical thinking, prompt discussions and reasoning.
The knowledge and skills in year 9 Health build the foundation for ākonga who would like to continue with Health in Year 10 onward.
