When does this course run: This course runs in either Semester 1 or 2 (ākonga can only choose one)
The Year 9 Fundamentals course focuses on what a traditional PE course would look like. Ākonga will build on fundamental motor skills required for a range of sports, eg; striking, catching, throwing and running. These skills will be taught and practised in a game-setting, providing ākonga with a range of experiences participating in physical activity.

Ākonga will build self-confidence, discipline and perseverance in developing skills.
Fundamental movement skills as well as perseverance and resilience, working successfully with others in a group setting to achieve common goals in a movement setting.
This course may include, but is not limited to; Tennis, Cricket, Softball, Netball, Football, Basketball, Touch/Ripper, Ultimate Frisbee.
This course builds foundations for ākonga to move onto ‘Game Play’ developing game sense strategies and further more, leading into senior Physical Education when they move to Year 11.
All course learning material will be provided in class. Akonga are required to bring their own change of PE gear for all lessons.
