Ākonga will work towards planning and developing artworks in painting. They will use a visual diary workbook process to record learning before developing and presenting works for the external examination on two A1 panels.

Visual Arts learning is relevant for students who are studying a wide range of other subjects where attention to detail, creating and interpreting images, and critical thinking are all important skills.
How to develop and extend your ideas through exploration, core skills and techniques in drawing and painting, and how to communicate ideas visually.
This is a practical course involving research, drawing and painting.
Your work will be assessed through two internal achievement standards and two external achievement standards.
Standard 91311 - Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to painting (internal)
Standard 91316 - Develop ideas in a related series of drawings appropriate to established painting practice (internal)
Standard 91321 - Produce a systematic body of work that shows understanding of art making conventions and ideas within painting (external)
A3 art pad and artcase.
A range of drawing pencils, erasers
Acrylic paint and brushes will be required to have at home for completing homework.
