Animation, video editing, design principles, programming, project management, as well as general digital literacy and key computing skills.
You will follow the design process from inquiry into a field/topic of your choosing, through to implementation of a digital outcome that you have designed.
There are six Achievement Standards at NCEA L3 for Digital Technologies:
Standard 91900 - Conduct a critical inquiry to propose a digital technologies outcome (internal)
Standard 91901 - Apply user experience methodologies to develop a design for a digital technologies outcome (internal)
Standard 91903 - Use complex techniques to develop a digital media outcome (internal)
Standard 91906 - Use complex programming techniques to develop a computer program (internal)
Standard 91908 - Analyse an area of computer science (external)
Standard 91909 - Present a reflective analysis of developing a digital outcome (external)
Endorsement is available if students achieve a mix of internal and external standards.
PLUS options are available for those that want to learn key industry-related computing skills in the form of Computing Unit Standards:
Standard 29785 - Use a word processing application to integrate images, spreadsheet and database data into documents (internal)
Standard 29786 - Produce a spreadsheet for organisational use (internal)
Standard 29787 - Produce and use a database to provide a solution for organisational use (internal)
Standard 29791 - Capture and prepare digital media for integration into other applications (internal)
Standard 29792 - Use a desktop publishing application to produce documents (internal)
While not essential, it is recommended to have a PC at home that you can practice skills or research on.
