In Childcare Level 2 ākonga will be introduced to the ages and stages of babies, toddlers and young children and their requirements to develop.

If you are interested in a career working with babies and young children then this could be the course to give you an understanding of the needs of this age group.
Through written and practical cookery tasks you will learn the nutritional requirements of each age groups food needs, how they learn and safe toys to help develop their brains for lifelong learning.
Local health providers will be researched.
This will be emphasized by visits to local ECE providers.
Due to ākonga attending this class for 1 to 3 years the programme changes to suit class requirements
All of the work is internally assessed (no exams). Ākonga will research and visit local health providers.
Ākonga will have the opportunity to gain 20 credits. All credits are internally assessed.

Standard 29853 - Demonstrate knowledge of health issues and services available to protect & enhance the wellbeing of young children (internal)
Standard 29855 - Describe attachment relationships & strategies used to support transitions for young children (internal)
Standard 29858 - Provide & reflect on the value of play experiences for a child’s development & learning (internal)
Standard 29867 - Demonstrate knowledge of diverse whanau/families & use a range of reflective communication strategies in an ECE service (internal)
