In Food and Nutrition Level 3, ākonga will be introduced to the advantages of using local foods and preserving. Students will look at the determinants of health and people's food choices.

Ākonga can gain more nutritional knowledge and apply this to the issues raised in each topic. These can relate to their local community.
Through written and practical cookery tasks you will learn about the effects of food on our wellbeing/hauora. This is within families and the local community. An ethical issue is chosen after looking at a variety of dilemmas. Ākonga analyse food advertising to determine which audience is being targeted.
Practical lessons reflect the topics covered. Ākonga will have the opportunity to gain 19 credits; 15 credits internally and 4 externally.
Ākonga will have the opportunity to gain 20 credits. All credits are internally assessed.
