When does this course run: This Year 10 Science course runs in either Semester 1 or 2.
All Things Living: In this course, you will take a closer look at the living world around us. The differences and similarities between the five kingdoms and the various other groups that living things are divided into.

WHY STUDY ALL THINGS LIVING?
The more we understand of the world around us the better we can become at living alongside other species.
WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
Classifying and identifying, observing and exploring, using microscopes and completing drawings from microscopic forms, growing bacteria and fungi, and making ginger beer and bread. Understanding the processes used to predict genetic crosses.
Building and interpreting food webs. Experimenting with growing plants. Soil testing. Investigate the uniqueness of NZ species. Evaluating what are some of the successes of our conservation programmes?

This course predominantly focuses on the living world (Biology) but will encompass aspects of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Science.

This course will lead to NCEA Level 1 Science, Level 2 and 3 Biology, and Horticulture
